South Shore’s Eco Walkways and 8 Suspension Bridges allow for nature enthusiasts to leisurely walk through the raw Jungle of Roatan Island, spotting Iguana, birds, lizards, amazing wild tropical blooms and interesting “Tarzan” vines (please no swinging off the bridge) … a photographers dream world!  There are concrete walkways, wooden steps and handrails. Each Roatan suspension bridge has a width of 4 feet and a capacity for 10 people and vary in length from 150 feet to 200 feet, making them the longest and strongest bridges in the Western Caribbean. This is the only tour of its kind on Roatan Island!  The duration of the hike through the Walkway is about 30 – 45 min. depending on the stops you make.

Description: The Mayan Eden Eco-Park is a nature park located only a few miles from the port in Roatán. It brings you back to the ancient world of the glorious and mystical Mayan culture. While hiking along the Ocelot Mountain walking path, you will see replicas of many ancient Mayan sculptures from the Copán archeological ruins. Follow your knowledgeable guide along different nature trails that meander through the virgin island jungle and interact with nature in an intimate environment. Birds, monkeys, parrots, snakes, insects and lizards make their home here and in the park you’ll observe several species of flora. Six kinds of orchids and several types of bromeliads flourish, along with old rattans and trees. Cross a suspension bridge and climb to the top of the hill for amazing views over the Caribbean coast, the port and of the distant islands. In the park you’ll also visit Crystal Wings—the only place in Central America where butterflies and hummingbirds live together in harmony in a walk-in pavilion. Three species of hummingbird and 20 species of butterfly share this habitat. Your tour will finish with a 30-minute stop at Coxen Hole, where you will have free time to explore or visit the local souvenir shops.
